Greece on your bucket list? I absolutely love this country. It was the first one I visited when I started travelling overseas and remains close to my heart.
I think my love affair with this country started way back in high school. I took Latin and my teacher also incorporated a lot of Greek into our lessons as the Romans and Greek overlapped on so many plains. I can still hear Magistra talking about the Greek and Roman gods along with verbs and nouns. :)
The cover of our Latin book was the ancient ruin of the library at Ephesus. I never dreamed I would someday be there. It was a shock when I topped the hill and there it was, just like the cover of the textbook.
Greece is long been herald as the seat of
modern democracy. The senate met in
Athens and you can still visit the remnants there.
One of my unexpected discoveries was
Mars Heel. Long a meeting place for the residents of this bustling city, you can climb the rock and spread out before you a magnificent view of the modern city superimposed over the ancient roots.
I'm hosting a tour in August to this lovely country. At the time of this writing, I only have 8 spots still available. You can find more information about the tour along with pricing at:
In the weekly newsletter I'll highlight various places to visit in Greece, things to do and foods to try. (I LOVE
Greek/Mediterranean food!) If you haven't already, send me an email at
